Orla in form to lift the Menary Cup
Lady Captain Ann Knox thanked Damien Murphy of Terra Travel for his continued and valued sponsorship.
The winner and the only lady to break par was Orla McKavanagh with a net 68. Orla and her playing partner Cara Murphy got the worst of the weather but that proved no difficulty to this ever improving golfer.

Hide AdHer time spent with Peter Hanna and Martin Drain, as part of the junior coaching programme, is paying off. Congratulations on winning your first major Orla.
The gross went to another young lady, Niamh McSherry with a gross 78. Niamh continues to shine at home, away and on the Lurgan teams. Niamh has just been selected for the Irish under-16 team and club members wish her every success in her representative role in the summer months.
Section 1 winner was Katrina Bradford with a net 71.
Just beaten on the count back was runner up Lynne Hanna. Two 73’s took the top spots in section 2 and Betty McKavanagh just pipped Orla O’Dowd for the winners’ prize.
Betty’s girls have been featuring in the prizes during the last few weeks but on this occasion it was Betty’s turn and everyone is delighted for her.

Hide AdOrla had a tidy card but unfortunately let it slip on the last to record a seven which cost her dear. Section 3 winner was Rosemary Callender with a 71. Rosemary’s team had a great win on Sunday and Rosemary has obviously used this momentum to carry her good golf through to Monday.
Just beaten on the back nine was Joy Stevenson who has been playing well lately and her scores have been improving week by week.
The front nine prize went to Kathryn O’Shaughnessy and a McKavanagh had the first mention of the day so it seems fitting that the last word goes to Orla’s mum Bronagh for winning the back nine prize.
Congratulations to all the prize winners and a big thanks to all involved in making the day a success including Terra Travel, the committee, Katrina and match and handicap, Peter and Lynne, May Baxter for the flowers.

Hide AdA few ladies played a greensomes competition for the Australian Spoons on Tuesday which provided a bit of light relief after the seriousness of the Menary Cup.
The winners with a great score of 40 points were our lady secretary Clare McGourty and her partner Christine Hagan. Runners up were Bronagh McKavanagh and Orla O’Dowd with 37 points, a score helped greatly by having two ‘twos’.
The ladies 9-hole competition was won by Andrea McCormick with 14 points.
