In come James McCabe and Michael Smith, players with previous senior experience with Ballymena United, while Jamie Mitchell is off to pastures new.

“Jamie has landed himself a new job as a youth worker and that entails night work which would obviously preventing him training with us, so it’s never going to work out in that situation. He’s joining Albert Foundry and we have agreed to review the position in January,” explained McAlinden.

“James McCabe is a forward with great potential and we needed an extra option up front, while midfielder Michael Smith was with Newington, although he played as well last season with Harryville Homers in the Ballymena Saturday Morning League.

“We played a couple of games last week, beating Queen’s on Tuesday, while the big match at home to Cliftonville on Saturday finished in a 2-1 defeat.

“Tommy Breslin was true it his word and brought down a strong squad with George McMullan, Mark Smyth, Seydak, Catney, Johnston and lots of other familiar faces on duty.”
