Sophie is poster girlfor city bike week
Primary 6 pupils from across the Derry City Council area were invited to come up with an eye-catching design illustrating the theme of this year’s Bike Week which is “Everyday Cycling Everyday.”
Sophie’s striking and colourful design was selected from the large number of entries received and has been made into a poster to promote Bike Week 2012 which runs from Saturday, June 16 until Sunday, June 24 earning her a brand new bike and cycling helmet courtesy of Bike Week 2012 sponsors Claudy Cycles.

Hide AdThree runners up in the competition Helen Flynn of Sacred Heart PS, Colm McKeever of Long Tower PS and Megan Collins from Sacred Heart PS who each received a free helmet and cycling goody bags from Claudy Cycles.
Honourable mentions also went to Manal Elshafie of Sacred Heart, Kaitlyn Nicell of St Columbcille’s, Emmalouise Hogan of Oakgrove PS and Saule Nausedaite of Oakgrove PS each receiving a cyclist’s goody bag.
Having seen the posters produced from Sophie’s design, Mayor Devenney said she was a worthy winner of the competition: “All the designs are excellent and Sophie’s design is really eye-catching and gets across the message of Bike Week and will get people thinking about cycling which is great exercise and fun for all the family and is also great for our environment too.”
