A three-session programme is being held in Whitehead to raise awareness of the importance of screening for breast, cervical and bowel cancers.

These will take place at Whitehead Community Centre on March 6, 13 and 20, from 10.30 am to 12.20 pm.

It has been organised by the Public Health Agency in association with the Women’s Resource Development Agency.

At each session, information will be provided to encourage participants to avail of screening services and help to address fears surrounding screening.

Topics covered will include breast awareness including a practical demonstration on how to check your breasts and signs and symptoms to look for.

Participants will be advised about what happens during a cervical screening test, types of results and their meaning.

With regard to bowel screening, there will be advice on symptoms to look for and advice on how to take a screening test.
