Funding boost will aiddisabled teenagers

The Mae Murray Foundation will use the grant over three years to deliver a programme for teenagers who are socially isolated as a result of complex physical disability or medical condition.

The programme is a mixture of day activities and short break residentials where the young people will take part in a range of adapted adventures such as water sports and cycling, which they may not normally have access to, to develop their skills, make new friends, and become more independent.

Alix Crawford, Chair of Mae Murray Foundation said: “It’s fantastic to hear that BBC Children in Need has awarded us with this funding, which will enable us to help these young people take part on a regular an on-going basis. Being excluded from society raises all sorts of unnecessary well-being difficulties for a group who already face many challenges daily. These young people have huge potential and determination and should have every confidence in their ability – this funding will allow us to help them realise that potential. A big thank you to everyone that has made this possible.”
