Carrick Castle, Smiley Buildings in Larne and The Braid, Ballymena, are all to be illuminated after dark on April 2 in the colour blue chosen to highlight World Autism Awareness Day.

On Saturday, Mid and East Antrim mayor Councillor Audrey Wales MBE will host a reception for Ballymena Autism Support Group at The Braid.

Cllr Wales said: “Ballymena Autism Support Group is a local charity whose aim is to provide help and support to parents and guardians of children living with the condition in the greater Ballymena area.

“I am very pleased to be able to welcome this dedicated group to the parlour and to support the illumination of some of our key civic buildings in blue to physically show council’s support for this worthy cause.”

World Autism Awareness Day aims to increase awareness of the condition.
