Good news as food hygiene ratings given to 10 Mid and East Antrim establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 10 of Mid and East Antrim’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to four restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Larne Adult Centre at 72 Ballymena Road, Ballyloran, Larne, Antrim; rated on January 17

• Rated 5: Be Our Guest Cafe at 1a Kilroot Business Park, Carrickfergus; rated on January 16

• Rated 5: McDonald’s at 1 Pentagon Retail Park, Town Parks, Ballymena, Antrim; rated on January 12

• Rated 5: EJ's Country Kitchen at 128 Glebe Road, Creagh, Randalstown, Antrim; rated on January 9

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And four ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:

• Rated 5: Olderfleet Bar at Fleet Street, Curran And Drumaliss, Larne, Antrim; rated on January 9

• Rated 5: Smithfield Arms at 21-23 Galgorm Road, Town Parks, Ballymena, Antrim; rated on January 9

• Rated 5: Larne Rugby Football Club at 41 Main Road, Glynn, Larne, Antrim; rated on January 8

• Rated 5: The Village Inn at 76a Main Street, Cullybackey, Cullybackey, Antrim; rated on January 8
