Taggart pleased with Academy win

Coach Jason Taggart commented after the Academy game: “I was pleased to see the young players step up today and not only show the creativity in attack which I knew they were capable of, but also show good strength in defence.

“There were some great tackles from No10 Henderson and No12 McCaw which gave our forwards a real boost.

“Our fitness was good today and the attitude was great as you could see the guys really wanted the win and it was great to get off to a winning start and to pick up the bonus point was an extra award for our efforts today.

“Next week we have CIYMS at home.

“We need to build on this win and keep moving forward.

“Our discipline let us down today, but I put some of that down to first match nerves and maybe guys trying too hard, but we will iron that out at training next week.

“There were no major injuries today so hopefully we can move up a step and get another win next week.”
