Success against Windsor - alongside disappointing results for Newry and Dromore B - left the locals as runners-up.

A five-point haul arrived for Lurgan B despite determined play by Windsor.

Charlie Maguire’s rink pushed clear and the remaining players developed momentum as play progressed to turn the tables on Windsor’s bright nine-point lead across five ends.

Lurgan held the advantage by nine entering halfway and dominated play following the interval to confirm success on the day and a season’s reward of promotion.

On rink one, Maguire, Rodney McCarthy, Bobby Livingstone and Bobby Jones moved 13-6 up by six ends on the way to a 27-11 success.

Gerry Stewart, Eamonn Quinn, Albert Houston and Michael Steen were down by five then returned 10 shots from the next six ends to hold the half-time lead.

Both groups enjoyed spells on top to sit level by 13 apiece and 18-18 at various stages.

Stewart was unfortunate not to draw the shot to win on the final end as Windsor edged clear by 19-18.

Will McCullough, Mike Parr, Neil Sloan and Vincent Devlin were trailing by 14-6 before a fightback cut the gap to two at 17 ends.

A 24-22 reverse arrived for Lurgan following a tense finale.

Sam Neill, Derek Henderson, Mel Hamilton and Simon Collins were down by 9-2 at six ends but a spirited response left Lurgan level by 10. Play finished in a 25-13 triumph for the home rink thanks to a strong second half.

LADIES

Lurgan ladies’ NIWBA Senior League meeting with Ballyholme resulted in six points and a 77-43.25 success.

Angela Thompson, Beth Wilson, Gwen Hayes and Jennifer McVeigh edged clear on rink one by 16-11.25.

Rink two featured Irene Doone, Irene Cunningham, Eileen Robson and Catherine McGrail on the losing side in a 15-13 reverse.

Winifred Kirkwood, Edith Hobson, Joan Bunting and Molly Ward proved commanding after gaining the upper hand towards a 26-8 success.

Iris Anderson, Maura McGoldrick, Dot McCoy and Genny Little moved into the lead and held control towards a 22-9 win.
