Traffic issue changes direction and heads towards Stormont

Regional Development Minister Gregory Campbell was invited to Larne to see the situation for himself after a delegation from the town met with him.

Independent Unionist Assembly member Roger Hutchinson led the delegation, and viewed the meeting as a matter of urgency.

Mr Hutchinson said that he was “delighted with the reception by which Gregory Campbell had greeted the concerns of the traders”.

Mr Hutchinson believed that there was “deep-rooted concern and widespread reservation over the change to the directional flow of the traffic on Main Street”.

Mr Campbell was presented with the results of a survey which had been carried out amongst traders in the town.

Of the 136 traders who were surveyed, 130 said that their customers were dissatisfied with the present flow of traffic, and 116 said that they wanted to see the original system re-installed.

Gregory Campbell said that he would do everything in his power to address the matters as quickly as possible.
