FORTY members of St Peter’s GAA Club had a lucky escape in May 1967.

When the bus came to a halt the passengers tried to break the windows to get out but eventually they escaped through the roof.

The players were on their way to take part in the quarter-final of the O’Hare Cup.

After their ordeal they lost 15-12 to Sarsfields.

The bus was extensively damaged and the remainder of the journey was made by car.
