Kieran, who won the Carrickfergus heat, came out on top after a number of tests.

He had to excel during a number of Highway Code questions, as well as manoeuvrability and car assessment tests. These were all carried out under the watchful eye of a driving instructor.

The final test was a 30-mile road route which was observed by hidden marshals along the route.

He was praised by local motoring groups.
