Larne affected by flooding

Parts of Larne were left flooded after heavy rain in November 1990.

People had to battle against the elements as a storm hit the region. The Coast Road was one of the worst affected areas, and it had to close due to landslides.

There was also flooding at the Highways Hotel, and the river in Ballygally burst its banks. House holders were advised by the Association of British Insurers to carry out emergency repairs to prevent further damage.

Property owners were told to keep a record of any receipts of the payments and expenses that they were having to spend on repairs.

Two Larne Coastguards helped to rescue an elderly man from his home in Ballycastle, which was one of the worst affected areas.
