No change for Hilden

Hilden fielded a weakened team but it did not matter as they had already settled for second place and they did take another five points.

Maurice Kirkwood had the biggest win and Steven Kirkwood also won by five shots, but Colin Montgomery and Drew Harron both lost by four shots.

Malone, however, finished on a high when they took all seven points off Belfast in Private Greens Senior Three on Tuesday night.

The result was a boost for the following day when they travelled to Clontarf in Dublin to play an inaugural game.

Both clubs have golf and bowls but this was the first time they had come together to play each other.

• The Mayor of Castlereagh, David Drysdale, says the Belfast Indoor Bowls Stadium was among the best in the United Kingdom, let alone Ireland.

The mayor was speaking during the official opening of new facilities at the Stadium which were part grant aided by Sport NI and he welcomed the new chief executive of the organisation, Antonette McKeown.

Ms McKeown unveiled a plaque to recognise the completion of the work and club chairman, Ronnie McKitterick, thanked Sport NI for the grant, and all involved.
