The Ballymena girls got off to a positive start in the first quarter.

They were able to successfully move the ball around the court between centre court players Laura McFadden (WA), Maria Doherty (C), and Michelle Scott (WD).

Effective feeds into the circle enabled Julie-Anne Cairns (GS) and Celine Hasson (GA) to secure a six goal lead for Towers.

As expected Pegasus came out fighting in the next quarter and forced passes into the circle by the home team saw Pegasus overturn many plays and claw back deficit, to leave the score at half time 20-20.

During the third quarter Towers defenders Siobhan Walsh (GK), Áine McCormick (GD) and Michelle Scott (WD) together gained many interceptions and over-turned play at least 16 times, enabling Siobhan to obtain Player
of the Match.

However, Towers appeared to be slightly rattled giving the ball away with a bad pass after each overturn. The third quarter ended with Towers down by one goal, with the score 29-30 to Pegasus.

Coach Alex Scullion emphasised to the girls the need to play the ball around and use the long pass from the centre third, but most of all to calm down and play their normal game.

First goal in the final quarter went to Towers and when they broke Pegasus centre pass to score the next goal, they grew in confidence. You could see Towers really wanted this.

Unfortunately Towers top shooter Celine Hasson (GA) hurt her ankle and had to come off. A huge blow to Towers as Celine was playing with an impressive 72% shooting over all for this match.

Towers had to play their only substitute, Seconds player Karen Mulvenna and she put in an impressive performance and showed she is a player to watch in the future.

One of the best displays of Towers team
work and work ethic ensued. They fought
for every ball, stayed calm and used
skilful passing to keep their opponents
under pressure.

This hard work and dedication saw Towers pull back to end up winning the match by 2 goals, the final score being 38-40.

This was an outstanding team victory for Towers and an impressive way to end the season. No doubt the club will be looking forward to next season with great anticipation.
