It was a excellent weekend for Larne Ladies’ Hockey Club with great performances on the pitch combined with news that it has secured sponsorship for a third year from

The First XI secured their first league success in Senior 1 with a 1-0 win over Ballymena. There was a bit of a shaky start for the first five minutes but once the team settled, the passing seemed to connect and the game flowed.

It was a hard-fought win and coach Andy King made a few positional changes in the second half and Larne’s reward came when Gillian Russell connected with a Leigh Snoddy pass to put the ball into the Ballymena net.

Larne held on to their advantage despite having to defend three penalty-corners in the final minutes of the match. The will give the team a huge confidence boost as they prepare to meet North Down at home territory this week.
