James Brown is feeling good after Laganside 10k success

LARNe Athletic Club runners turned out for the Laganside 10k in Belfast, one of the most popular events on the race calendar.

Expectations varied from those wanting personal bests after building their training towards the event, while others were hoping to enjoy the run after coming back from injury or taking part in their first official event.

James Brown produced an exceptional performance, leading the Larne AC athletes home in 35:03, securing an excellent 10th place finish out of nearly 700 runners.

Craig Hutchinson (20th place – 35:54) was next, with his hard work being rewarded with first place in the Vet 50 category.

Andy Guy (28th place) ran 36:56, with Davy Clarke (37th place – 38:00) not far behind. Davy was awarded second place in the Vet 50 category.

Returning from injury, Brian Heron was happy to run a sub-40 minute 10k, crossing the line in 39:14.

James Robinson just missed the infamous sub-40 minute mark as he finished in 40:09 (74th place), having run an excellent race beating Paul Tilson (75th place – 40:17) by just eight seconds.

David Noble (41:39) and Allan McCullough (41:43) had a closer battle, with David crossing the line a mere four seconds ahead of Allan, thus taking 99th place with Allan being the 100th finisher of the day.

Geraldine Quigley (125th place) finished 10th in the ladies’ race, clocking 43:04.

This was enough to secure a well-deserved first place in the Vet 35 category.

Ian Brennan (128th place – 43:12) produced another admirable performance considering his busy summer of racing.

Dan Magill, despite going into the race having fallen during his warm-up, achieved an excellent personal best, running 46:08 (185th place).

Allyson O’Toole crossed the line in 47:46 (230th place) with Rhonda Brady (234th place – 47:51) finishing just 10 seconds outside her personal best, a good sign considering she is just returning to consistent training.

Gillian Logan ran a strong race, completing the course in 56:46 (428th place).

Jane Maxwell (571st place – 1:04:56) and Deborah O’Boyle (575th place – 1:05:00) crossed the line happy having successfully completed their first event for Larne Athletic Club.
