James Hamilton of Larne Swimming Club has been selected to represent Ireland as part of a team travelling to Germany for the IPC Swimming European Championships from the July 2 to 10.
James will travel to the city of Berlin which play host to over 450 competitors from 39 countries worldwide.
The Doagh teen, is part of the Irish team which is made up of nine swimmers from all over Ireland - all of whom will be hoping to achieve paralympic qualifying times for London 2012.
He gained valuable racing experience in August last year when he competed for Ireland in the IPC World Swimming Championships.
In April James he finished in sixth place in his strongest event, the 100m breaststroke, at the British Open Long Course Championships in Sheffield and achieved a qualifying time for the Paralympic in London 2012.
He also repeated this personal best time in the Irish Long Course Championships in May.
If James can keep up this form over the next season it could stand him in good stead for consideration for the 2012 Irish Paralympics team.
