Cairndhu Golf Club’s John McKinstry has been selected to manage the Irish Under-16 golf team against England.
The match takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12 at the Hilton Golf Club in Templepatrick.
Each team will consist of the best eight under-16 players in their country and the format will be similar to the Ryder Cup, in that both foursomes and fourball will be played on the Saturday and eight single matches on the Sunday.
Ireland have never beaten England at this level, so it will be a great opportunity for all the Irish players to show what they can do. There will betwo players in the eight-man team from Northern Ireland, namely Jordan Logue and Reece Black.
“This is obviously a great honour for myself as manager of the Ireland team and it will be important to get the foursomes and fourball partnerships right as England always come out very strong in the singles,” John said.
