Cairndhu’s Marc McKinstry produced a remarkable display to win the Connacht Under-18 Boys’ Championship on Thursday (July 9).
McKinstry shot eight under par overall at Roscommon Golf Club, thanks to rounds of 68, 70, 70. He finished eight shots ahead of Tramore’s Jack Hearn.
Going into the final round leading on six under par, the teenager carded four birdies on his way to his second successive two-under score of the tournament.
McKinstry topped the Ulster Under-18 Boys’ Order of Merit for 2014. At just 16, he was the youngest ever player to win the title.
