Cairndhu golfers in third round of Fred Daly tournament

Cairndhu travelled to Knock Golf Club for the return leg of the first round Fred Daly match.

Leading 5-2 from the home leg, this was going to prove a tough test for the team and in the end they did what was needed, returning a share of the spoils which saw them through overall by three matches 8.5 to 5.5.

Winners were Ryan Long, Marc McKinstry and debutant Fiontann Callen with Mark Petticrew picking up an important half.

The team look forward to the third round, which will see them play against Ballymena with the first leg away from home. This tie is to be completed by June 7.

Sunday’s juvenile sweep was played in near-perfect conditions and a field of 17 set out to take on the course, which was in excellent condition. On this occasion the victor was Ciaran Robinson with an excellent 44 points, followed by Chris Guiller on 41 and Aaron Callaghan, 40.
