McGeady underpins statusas top performer at Foyle

Cormac McGeady captured the coveted P. & L. Electrics ‘Golfer of the Year’ title at Foyle Golf Club for the fourth time in five years.

The 2015 competition was a keenly contested affair with just six points separating the top three finishers and McGeady claimed top spot ahead of runner-up Scott Kennedy. O’Doherty wins Monthly Medal

Saturday’s Crumley Construction Monthly Medal Final saw the Season’s Qualifiers take to the Ballyarnett course to compete for the Overall Monthly Medal Title with Ciaran O’Doherty taking the coveted title with an excellent nett 62, six shots clear of the field and in doing so he saw a significant reduction on his playing handicap. Full result - 1, Ciaran O’Doherty (12) 62; Cat. 0-10, Cormac McGeady (4) 68; Cat.11-16, Conor O’Kane (12) 70; Cat.17+, b.ot, Michael Gallagher (20) 71; C.S.S., 70.

Winter League

The Annual Desmond Motors Winter League gets under way for the 15th consecutive year at Foyle on Sunday.

The Teams of four 18 hole stableford event with the best two scores counting at each hole and eight from 10 cards counting in the Qualifying, runs until Sunday, November 29th with the top eight teams qualifying for the final on Saturday, December 5th where they will play for the four team prizes on offer.

Michael Bridge (20) won the Thursday Open Stableford last week with a superb 43 points. Second place went to Ian Dixon (12) on a break-of-tie 40 pts over Fred Young (10). John Hamilton just missed out on the prizes losing on break-of-tie for both the third overall place and best gross score, which was won by Colin Jeffrey (7) with 32pts gross. The best visitor was Brian Wallace (8) with 39pts. Faughan Valley Golf Club hosted a Stableford competition on Saturday, September 12th and Sunday,13th last which was generously sponsored by Mr Kieran O’Doherty from Premier Travel in Carlisle Road.
