LARNE ATHLETIC CLUB: O’Neill first home for club at Belfast Half-Marathon

Fifteen runners from Larne Athletic Club hit the streets of Northern Ireland’s capital city, for Sunday’s third annual running of the Belfast City Half-Marathon. The event also incorporated the NI & Ulster Half-Marathon Championships.

In fairly decent running conditions, competitors were faced with a new course, one that was described as ‘super-fast’ by organisers.

First home for Larne AC was John Neill breaking his PB by over five minutes. John finished in 35th position in a time of 01:19:32. David Noble was just behind him with another PB of 01:19:59 to take 38th place.

Next home for the club was veteran runner Billy Thompson with a season best 01:22:41 (71st). Billy was followed home by another two experienced runners from the club with Bernard Brady (01:23:41, 87th) and Craig Hutchinson (01:23:47, 88th) performing well.

First female home for Larne AC, with a fantastic time of 01:34:04 was Kirsty Sharratt. She was followed by Patricia Blair with a new PB of 01:35:27. Ruth Wilson crossed the line in a very strong time of 01:38:23.

Mark Todd, in this his first time out wearing LAC colours, finished in 01:39:21. Next was Dan Magill who took six minutes off this last half-marathon time recording 01:41:41. He was followed in by Gillian Logan, who ran the Dublin half on Saturday, in a time of 01:44:39.

There was another personal best for the club when Glenn Mann finished in a time of 01:46:22.

Dominic Watt ran 01:48:43, while Emmett Woods clocked 01:55:10. Ruth Moore came in just over the two-hour mark in 02:00:51.
