And they extended their advantage in the second session when captain Jordan Robinson made no mistake in dispatching a penalty flick into the net.

Barnes pulled a goal back for Civil Service but Mossley held out for the win. They are now due to take on Instonians in the Boxing Day final (3:30pm).

Twenty-four hours earlier Mossley secured their first Premier League point of the season with a scoreless draw at home to Belfast Harlequins. Both sides created a number of opportunities but were unable to find the breakthrough. The pick of the home side’s chances fell to Jordan Robinson and Sam Campbell.

Elsewhere, the club’s thirds fell to a 9-3 defeat to QUB II with goals from Neil Cooke and Robert Tyrrell (two).
