Club’s ladies play off for the Ulster Cancer stableford

ON Tuesday April 24 fifty-nine ladies took place in the Ulster Cancer Stableford competition for prizes donated by Helen Rankin, Lorna Poots and Sally McConville.

On a day when most people seems to struggle with the conditions, one lady Denise Nelson excelled and had a fantastic 40 points to be the overall winner, Denise also managed to reduce her handicap from 35 – 32.. Well done Denise.

Other winners on the day were: Section A - Lady President Marianne Nelson with 35 points

Section B - Janice Thompson 38 points and reduced her handicap from 25 to 23, well done Janice

Section C - Melissa Whan 34 points (one of our up and coming young stars)

Five ladies managed to score a two ie Sheelagh English, Ann-Marie Canavan, Mary Parkes, Una McSherry and Marianne Nelson.

The Novice winner was Jane Doyle

Last Tuesday May 1 was the Peggy Nelson prize which was very kindly and generously sponsored by Fionnuala Crossey, Ann Magennis and Denise McBrien. One again scoring conditions were difficult

Section A was won by Mary Quinn, Helen Cocks was runner up

Section B was won by Ann-marie Canavan, runner up Karen Curran and

Section C was Robena McCandless , runner up Denise Nelson

Ann-Marie has had her handicap reduced from 16 – 14.

The first of the Friday Night Club Mixed competitions was held on Friday 27th April and this was won by John and Mary Parkes, Eamonn and Gina McConville being runners-up.

TEAM NEWS - Lots of matches have taken place over the last couple of weeks.

Helen Smyth and Liz Armstrong were unfortunate to be beaten in the Irish Mail Fourball competition against a very strong team for Royal Co Down ladies

The Minor Team despite a valiant effort lost to Lurgan in the Minor Cup.

The Junior Foursomes team returned to Fintona on Thursday to play the second leg of their match the result will be available next week.

On Sunday 29th the Junior Cup team played host to Ballyclare ladies and won four out of the five matches.
