The tie, a much needed money spinner for the Championship 2 side, was in doubt after the council initially denied the club the use of the pitch for the match which could generate up to £2,000 for Glebe.

Following news of the decision, Chairman John McAuley commented: “The Club are delighted to announce that the glamour tie against local premier league club Coleraine will go ahead on Monday 20th July at the Riada Stadium with a 7.45pm kick-off.

“I received written confirmation on Friday evening from Richard Baker, Director of Leisure and Development CC&G saying we were granted permission to use the pitch despite the Milk Cup taking place the following week.”

Speaking exclisvely to the Ballymoney Times John added: “Thankfully common sense prevailed, we are delighted to have secured this pre-season friendly against Coleraine as it willnot only be a great occasion for Glebe Rangers but a showpiece for the toen of Ballymoney which has a great connection with Coleraine through legends like Dessie Dixon, Johnny McCurdy, John Dunlop, Ivan Murray, Ricky Wade, Ronnie McDowell, Liam Beckett and Stephen Carson.

“Yet again the Club would like to thanks Councillor John Finlay who facilitated their meeting with Richard Baker. John works tirelessly for the club behind the scenes and supports us at every opportunity and this game wouldn’t have happened without John’s input.”
