In a statement on its website, the club said: “It is with great sadness that we report the death of our esteemed clubman and friend Alaster McWilliams, who passed away on Sunday 6th September.

In his playing days, Alaster was a member of the Ballymena club’s first senior football team that competed in the 1978 South West Junior Football Championship.

But Alaster will be most fondly remembered for his tremendous service of 22 unbroken years as All Saints GAC Secretary from 1992 until 2013.

During that time he oversaw plenty of success on the playing field and also off it with the opening of the Slemish Park pavillion and the Quinn Park redevelopment.

A skilled administrator, Alaster also served on a number of committees at County level, and will be remembered fondly throughout the County for his determined nature and witty humour.

He is survived by wife Teresa, daughter Claire and the wider family circle.
