Youngsters turn out in force for ‘Teenage Kickz’ initiative

A LARGE crowd of local youths turned up at the 3G pitch at Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday evening to avail of the ‘free’ use of facilities at Ballymena’s top sports venue, as part of the ‘Teenage Kickz’ initiative.

Almost two hours of football was enjoyed by a good cross section of youths from throughout the borough, who were paid a visit by Wendy Kerr and Rodney Quigley from the Ballymena PCSP, the organisation responsible for promoting the project.

Local IFA approved coaches were on hand from the Carniny club to assist in the games and supervise and ensure fair play and the club hope and invite any other local youths to come any Friday night and take up the offer.

Interested youths of 15 years to 19 years inclusive should be at the 3g pitch on Friday night by 7.15pm with appropriate training wear and non metal studs on boots.

The idea of ‘Teenage Kickz’ is to provide local youths with an alternative to undesired behaviour at weekends with little or no cost on the young people themselves.
