Weather plays havoc for sides

IN the Premier Division only one game survived the terrible wind and rainy weather conditions at the weekend.

A Glenn Wallace goal gave Newbuildings United Reserves a 1-0 win against City Colts: that win moved the Waterside men into pole position in the league.

In the First Division the big game saw leaders Caw lose 4-1 to fellow title contenders Ardmore, Carl O’Kane double and one each for Gary Collett and Kevin Deehan gave Ardmore a vital win, while Barry King scored for a consolation goal for Caw.

Tullyally Colts romped home 9-0 against Draperstown Reserves with Andy Cooke helping himself to five goals and Christopher McFaul also grabbing a hat-trick; John Wray got the other goal.

Eglinton defeated Foyle Wanderers 3-1 with Shaun Whorskiskey among the scorers Michael Allen replied for Wanderers.

Claudy United got their first win of the season defeating Donemana in a thriller 4-3. James Canning was their hero with a hat-trick and Johnny Mongomery grabbed the other. Ash Buchannan with a double for Donemana and Jason Milligan was also on target.

In the Second Division leaders Churchill United won 5-3 against Greysteel Reserves. Three McGunniess’ were on the scoresheet for Greysteel, Declan, Steven and Michael. Jarlath Canning again and two each from Paul Doherty and John Kelly were the scorers for Churchill.

Roe Rovers Reserves won 9-0 at home to Douglas Bridge with the Divisions top goalscorer Timmy Douglas bagging a hat-trick. Brendan McGonigle and Gerdy O’Kane got two each and Matty Hamilton and Niall Deehan added the others.

Irish Street also kept in touch with the top as they won 4-2 against Glendemott. Stuart Smallwoods, Matthew Henderson, Johnny Wilson and an own goal for the Street. Jordan Abbott and Ricky McClelland for Glendermott. Donemana won the local derby against Artigarvan with Kyle Doherty the scorer in a 1-0 victory.

Another derby saw the Reserves sides of BBOB and Lincoln Courts share eight goals, they scored four each! Johnny Moore with two, Alan Duddy and Darren McKnight for BB and Richard Adams, Craig Young double and David Laird for Lincoln Courts Res.
