Small sets sights on silverware

CARRICK Rangers boss Stephen Small this week said he and his side have set their sights on bringing some silverware back to Taylor’s Avenue as they look to book a spot in the last four of the WKD Core Intermediate Cup.

Having knocked rivals Ballyclare Comrades out of the competition at the weekend Small’s charges can now focus seeing off Banbridge Rangers when they go head-to-head in Carrick on Saturday.

“We are set on achieving a result against a very good side in Banbridge Rangers and we will have to concentrate our attention on winning that and booking a place in the semi-finals. It’s a home game for us and it’s one we badly want to win,” assured the determined Taylor’s Avenue manager.

“With our main attention on trying to win the league title and promotion to the Premiership, the early rounds of this tournament were considered obstacles that were getting in the way of putting points on the board, with fixtures switched all over the place,” confessed Small.

“However, now that we are at the closing stages of the Intermediate Cup, we are clearly taking a greater interest and rightly so. We’re all in football to try and win silverware and this is definitely a trophy worth having – and we’d definitely love to win it.”
