Sky Blues Awards

MAGHERAFELT Sky Blues held their senior and youth players end of season award presentation at Bryson’s last weekend. Over 150 people attended to celebrate a wonderful season for the club.

Robert Rainey, Chairman, thanked the players, coaches and committee for all their hard work. He also thanked the parents and guardians of the youth team players for the support and commitment throughout the year.

Finally, Robert thanked the sponsors who have supported the club throughout the season. He paid special thanks to Brysons (food and entertainment sponsors) and Ronan Valley (youth football sponsors).

The club were delighted to have Kilmarnock and Northern Ireland player Dean Shiels available to hand out the senior trophies. This was a great honour and the club would like to thank Dean for his time and kind words.

Robert Rainey also congratulated the following youth players, Caolan Coyle on his pending transfer to Dungannon Swifts; Jake Taylor on selection for the Co. Londonderry Milk Cup Squad; Conor McCluskey for selection to the Northern Ireland Under 13 school boys squad; Ciaran Shields, Conor McCluskey, Aaron McKee, Caolan Coyle, and ten U10 players who have all attended the county excellence squads.

The U11 Players player of the year went to Pat Shivers and Conleth McGuckian. Player of the year went to Thomas Maynes and Pat Shivers. Ethan Doherty grabbed top goalscorer while most promising player went to Eoghan Hawe. Finally, Finn Diamond claimed goal of the season.

In the U12s, players player was Ciaran Shiels. Player of the year went to Pearse McLarnon. Top goalscorer went to Alex Doherty while Kealan Friel claimed the most promising player award. Goal of the season went to the departing Caolan Coyle.

At U13 level, Players player of the year went to Jake Young. Liam Og McElhone claimed player of the year. Top goal scorer was Ciaran McKeever while Aaron Darragh and David Lennox claimed most promising player and goal of the season respectively.

At U14, Conor McCann won Players Player of the Year. Conor McCluskey won Player of the year. Top goalscorer was Sean Monaghan. Adam Hunter won most promising player and Manus McAllister won the goal of the season award.

In the U16s, players player of the year went to Luke McAllister. Player of the year was Jake Taylor. Dessie Colgan claimed top goalscorer. Most promising player went to Johnny Douglas and Kieran Lynch claimed goal of the season.

Moving onto the senior category. Steven O’Neill claimed Players player of the year in the Reserve team. He also won Player of the Year. Mark Diamond finished top of the goalscoring charts and Shane Henry won Reserve youth player of the year.

In the first team, Martin Scullion lifted the Players player of the year and Player of the year. Thomas Beattie was top goal scorer and first team youth player of the year went to Cameron Hawthorne.

Robert Rainey was given the Clubman of the Year.
