Northend United Youth FC round-up: Prize nights brings season to conclusion

IN a fitting end to the season, Northend United Youth FC’s senior teams held their Awards night at two different venues this week, one at the Michelin Club and the other at Ballymena Golf Club.

Well in excess of 220 people attended these events which also doubled up as a Fundraising event for the Club.

Northend’s second Awards evening of the year was held in the Michelin Club on Thursday 24th May where close to 70 players, parents, sponsors and friends filled the club to capacity for the U13 awards.

Northend’s Chairman, Johnny Sayers, again opened proceedings at the event before team Coaches, Mark Herbison, Steven Turner and Andy Ben Galbraith then went on to give an account of the year’s play before awarding the team with their trophies, including the Belfast and East Antrim Shield and Knock-Out Cups

The Senior Awards Night was held on Friday 25th Friday at the Ballymena Golf Club where again a large attendance of almost 150 players and their parents filled the Clubrooms to capacity for the U11s, U14s, U15s and U16s teams.

Coaches Paul Lecky, Mark Lecky, Charlie Kinney, Sean Carberry, Glenn Speirs and Johnny Sayers all gave an account of their teams’ successes throughout the year including all the major competitions won by each team.

Most Improved – Conor McGarry; Best Newcomer – Robbie McGaughey, Eoin Hynds; Clubman – Scott Sempey, Philip Kyle; Player of the Falkirk Cup – Sean McKay, Scott Sempey; Top Goalscorer – Sean McKay; Players’ Player of the Year – Robert McCluney; Player of the Year – Connor Meneely, Robert McCluney; BEAIYL Player of the U11 Shield Final – Robert McCluney.
