IRISH CUP: Haveron happy to get job done against Crumlin Star

Miguel Chines’ second-half penalty settled the tie against the Amateur League side who had Gary McKernan red-carded for the foul which led to the award of the spot-kick.

“It’s all about getting into the next round,” Harveron said after the game. “Fair play to Crumlin, they are a really good side. They are the cream of the Amateur League and there’s no doubt in my mind there’s quite a few of their players who could take a step up and play at a higher level.

“They are close as a group and you could see how committed they were and how they go about things. They made it very difficult for us but I think in the end we did enough. It was a stonewall penalty and a sending-off and the referee got it right and it killed the game off.

“It could have been an awkward night. I would rather it have been a bit more comfortable with a few more goals, but we’re in the next round of the Cup and that’s what matters.”

The win sets up a quarter-final home tie with Stephen Baxter’s Crusaders.
