Council departments hold charity match

TWO departments from Lisburn City Council went head to head last Sunday for a charity football match as they took their ‘Movember’ challenge to the next level.

The charity match between members of the council’s Operational Services department’s, Street Cleansing and Park Services, played a full 90 minute, 11-a-side match at the LeisurePlex on Sunday as they continue to raise funds for Prostate Cancer by taking part in Movember, with many moustaches currently on display amongst council staff.

Roy Hanna, the Assistant Director of Environmental Services said: “I’m very proud of all the men to take time out of their spare time to take on this challenge. It’s for a very good cause and it builds the team spirit within the work force, it’s a good way to bring everyone together.”

Deputy Mayor, Councillor Margaret Tolerton presented the trophy, which was donated by Ironside trophies.

As to who was the winner, Roy says the day was all in good spirit and wouldn’t reveal the result, it seems that everyone, especially charity, were the winners.
