Back to league action for Comrades

IT’S back to league action for Ballyclare Comrades this weekend as the Reds travel to North Down to take on Bangor.

A win could see Gordon Chambers’ men close the gap on the Seasiders to just three points as the Dixon Park outfit look to claw themselves away from falling into the IFA Championship 1 drop-zone.

Frankie Wilson’s Bangor will still, no doubt, be reeling from their heavy 7-0 defeat to Larne in their last outing.

Chambers’ men will take heart from the last time the two sides met in the league, back in August when strikes from centre-forwards Ronnie Burns and Mark McClelland ensured a 2-1 win.

Bangor haven’t won a game in the league since defeating Ards 2-0 on New Year’s Day while Ballyclare haven’t picked up three points in the league since defeating Loughgall in November.

The Reds, who crashed out of the WKD Core Intermediate Cup at the hands of rivals Carrick Rangers in a 2-0 defeat on Saturday, should have Eddie Hill and Keith Armstrong back in contention.
