Five star South Fifths get back to winning ways

South Antrim Men’s 5th XI got back to winning ways in a great battle with Raphoe.

Raphoe started the game well and won a short corner early on in the game and found the net with an unfortunate clip off a South players stick.

South managed to quickly strike back with good build up play by Josh Willis, Colly Rosbothom and Chris Black. This resulted in Chris winning a free hit outside the dashed line. Quick thinking Chris took the hit quickly, drove into the D and unleashed a ‘worldie’ leaving the away side bamboozled.

South Antrim then cranked the game up a notch with superb play by Jamie Cochrane and Josh Willis. Josh played the ball to Neil Wilson who smashed the ball into the top corner. The next South Antrim goal came from a superb deflection off Graeme Alister’s stick putting Raphoe on the back foot completely.

Pressure

Wilson continued to put Raphoe’s defence under pressure which resulted in them giving the ball away time and time again. From one of these turnovers, South struck again with a timely deflection from Josh Willis.

Raphoe hit back and got a consolation goal which was a well hit reverse stick volley.

South had the last word, however, with Captain Aaron Pyper putting the game to bed with a tidy finish after the keeper saved his initial shot.

Final score 5-2 to South Antrim 5th XI.
