EAST COAST AC: Davis tops club ranks at Belfast Half-Marathon

East Coast AC members joined over 3,500 athletes for Sunday’s Belfast City Half-Marathon.

Club captain Chris Davis led the way for the black and yellow vests, clocking 1:35:24 (337th) for the 13.1-mile course.

Other times: John Steele 1:37:54 (432nd), Brian Maltman 1:39:46 (508th), Conor Sheridan 1:43:04 (665th), Andy Guy 1:44:49 (pacer), Peter McManus 1:51:08 (1,064th), Sandy Plumb 1:52:20 (1,111st), Lionel Date 1:51:56 (1,122nd), Tracey Parke 1:58:33 (331st lady), Lynn Magee 2:01:31 (395th lady), Nicola Robinson 2:01:32 (397th lady), Janice McGuckin 2:33:12 (940th lady).

Also on Sunday, East Coast held the second race of this year’s Club Championship Challenge Series in Ballyboley Forest (4.2 miles).

Taking on this course for the first time, Dawn Ralph set off first. She was followed two minutes later by Fiona Rolston, with 22 of her club-mates keen to catch up.

Fiona ran well, passing Dawn and holding off the challenge to finish in first place, coming into the line in on 42:42.

Next to enter the forest finish area was Sharon Kirkpatrick who impressed with a time of 39:46, claiming second place in the event. It was Davy Hall, who ran a parkrun personal best (PB) 24 hours earlier, who took the final podium spot, with a time of 37:17.

East Coast Cheetahs and some friends took part in a one-mile race, just prior to the senior group event. Rhys McManus (6:11), Charlie Patterson (6:12), Kelly Patterson (6:30), Curtis Robertson (7:21), Hannah O’Toole (7:33), Lucy O’Toole (7:34), Zoe Whiteford (7:35), Charlotte Dean (7:46), Cameron Smyth (8:30), birthday boy Jake Dempsey (8:31), Matilda Dean (9:47), Katie Monaghan (9:48), Rebecca Robertson (9:58), Keilian McManus (10:22), Imogen Taylor (11:10), Elys Leetch Armstrong (11:25), Darcy Leetch Armstrong (11:31) and Maggie Deller (13:54) all ran very well, completing the hilly course in times ranging from 6:11 to 13:54.

Gary Hawe was in action at the Mourne Mountain Marathon which took place over Saturday and Sunday. Gary, along with friend Barry Pullin, competed in the ‘C’ class and covered the course in a total time of 6:22:40 over the two days.

Meanwhile, Adele Neill was in action at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago, USA. Representing Ireland, East Coast member Adele produced an outstanding performance, finishing in a total time of 2:26:13 to take 30th place in her category.
