Brown leads the way for Larne at Belfast City Half Marathon

Twenty-five Larne AC members joined over 3,000 athletes at Sunday’s Deep River Rock Belfast City Half Marathon.

The race started at the King’s Hall in Belfast went via the City centre and Titanic Quarter, before returning to the King’s Hall.

First home for the club was James Brown who was 13th overall in 1:16:49. Billy Thompson was second for Larne in 1:23:36 (59th). He was closely followed by David Noble 1:24:25 (75th).

The first three Larne ladies over the line were Patricia Blair 1:40:42, Heather Baxter 1:44:57 and Kellie Connor 2:11:24.

Larne fielded a number of runners tackling the distance for the first time. Glenn Mann ran 1:53:58, Lyndsey Dillon 2:12:13, Carol Goodall 2:12:13, Bill Guiller 2:09:23, Roger Barham, Marty McKay 2:18:28 and Shirley-Ann McGoran 2:26:46.

There were personal bests for Thomas Craig, Patricia Blair, Rory McGregor, Norma Johnson and Geraldine Hastings.

Two Larne AC runners took part in Thursday’s ‘Run n the Bann’ 5k race which is part of the Gig ‘n the Bann festival. Geraldine Quigley finished second in 19:49 and was followed home by Claire Dickinson who recorded a new personal best of 24.55.

Ian Brennan, David Noble and Bernie Regan took part in the Great North Run earlier this month. Noble ran an unofficial time of 1:26, with Brennan crossing the line in 1:40. Regan was next home for the club.

Meanwhile, Michael McCambridge completed the Belfast Titanic Triathlon in a very respectable time 2:16:46 and was 60th overall.

Arlene O’Toole, Norma Brennan, Lisa McHendry Angeline Davidson and Claire McIntyre ran the recent Subway 5k run in Ormeau Park, Belfast. No times were recorded at this run.
