Break in the county league action

THE Armagh All County League now takes a break before the second half of the season swings into action on Sunday, July 29.

Last weekend’s round of matches finalised which sides will take their places in the top and bottom sections of the three divisions and points will be carried over into the second half of the leagues.

Three teams will be relegated from division one and division two.

Four local clubs, Sarsfields, Clann Éireann, Clan na Gael and Wolfe Tones, will all participate in the bottom half of the top flight with seemingly only Sarsfields being safe from relegation.

This scenario will, however, provide the clubs with a cash windfall during the remaining part of the season.

With the early season fixtures being reversed, Sarsfields will travel to Davitt Park to play Clan na Gael, the Tones will also host their country neighbours and Clann Éireann will travel to Davitt Park for the clash of the Lurgan rivals.

Despite finishing on top of division one, Maghery, if they can sustain their form, will still be required to face a play off to be crowned champions should they finish in the top two at the end of the season.
