It was Aoibhin’s first time competing in front of a very large crowd of 30,000, with an amazing atmosphere.

Aoibhin’s mum and dad, Celeste and Kevin McManus, coach, Philip McIlfatrick, other friends and coaches from the Northern Ireland team travelled to London for the event and all were impressed by how well the local athletes handled the pressure.

There was a lot of media interest, as Blue Peter travelled with the NI team to the games. One of the Northern Ireland athletes even received a Blue Peter Badge.

Aoibhin is now off to County Offally this weekend to compete for Lismore School in the All Ireland School Finals after winning the Ulsters last weekend - a very busy schedule to be fitted in with her GCSEs that she is currently sitting.
