Women fight in front of crowd
The fight broke out in Carrigart Crescent at around 6pm last Thursday (August 25).
It’s believed the women, both in their mid-20s, were members of the Travelling community.

Hide AdOne resident, who witnessed the fight, described what happened.
“I was sitting in the front room of my house when I saw a scantly dressed young woman walking up the street shouting and singing,” he said.
“She was carrying some sort of drink and had a number of toddlers with her.
“Another woman confronted her, who seemed to object to what she was doing.

Hide Ad“The next thing, they are both rolling about on the ground knocking lumps out of each other.
“It wasn’t long before a crowd started to gather around them. Some of the crowd were laughing and cheering them on.
“Some of the kids were even running in and kicking them on the ground. It was a shameful scene.”
The man continued: “Three police cars ended up coming to try put an end to it. The whole thing lasted for about 15 minutes.

Hide Ad“It’s disgraceful for a woman with kids to behave like that. They should be named and shamed.”
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police attended a report of an altercation between two females in the Carrigart Crescent area on Thursday.
“No complaints were made and a number of individuals were spoken to in relation to the incident.”
