Watch the birdie at Ballyhackett

P6 and P7 pupils at Ballyhnckett Primary School, Castlerock are busy preparing to take part in the RSPB Big Schools' Bird Watch.

The event is one of the world's biggest birdwatches which has been run annually by the RSPB for over 30 years.

The children have been busy making bird cakes for the many birds that frequent their school playground and are pictured here along with Miss Mullan their teacher and Lisa McCaughan from the National Trust who helped the children make the bird cakes.

The pupils will also be putting their bird watching skills to the test by watching and identifying the different species that come into the school grounds.

The bird watch is integrated into the children's lessons and gives them a real purpose for their learning. CR5-149pl
