He is married to Audrey (Dolly) Crossey with whom he has recently celebrated being 60 years married.

Dolly took Alzheimer’s five years ago and Thompson is her sole carer. He has been a lover and writer of poetry his whole life and poetry gives him an outlet from the sometimes heartbreaking task of caring for a loved one with Alzheimers.

The poetry book ‘Verses of Love and Life’ details his love for Dolly, nature and his life experiences growing up around Culcavey and Hillsborough. He has already sold his first 50 copies.

They can be bought at CCG Computer Solutions 227b Moira Road, Maghaberry Chemists, Culcavey Stores, Trio Hillsborough or you can contact him directly on [email protected] or 02892611050

Books cost £5 and all proceeds go towards the Alzheimer’s Society
