Urgent appeal as NI food bank runs short of supplies

An urgent appeal has been launched by an NI food bank which is in ‘crucial need’ of supplies.

Craigavon Area Food Bank issued the appeal last night asking people to donate certain items it is running short of.

They also issued an appeal for help sourcing bail-arm totes which they are having difficulty getting due to Brexit complications.

Craigavon Area Food Bank works across the wider Craigavon Area, including Portadown, Central Craigavon, Lurgan and rural area. They provide food and related services to people in emergency and crisis situations.

On a Facebook post, they said: “URGENT We are in crucial need of tinned and instant mashed potatoes, jelly, puddings and multipack chocolate bars.

“On your next supermarket shop please consider including an item to donate.

“We so appreciate all of your support in helping to deliver emergency food parcels to those in our communities who find themselves in crisis.

The Craigavon Area Food Bank issued an appeal last week for special baskets to store the food.

It said: “Due to complications with Brexit, we are having some difficulties in sourcing bail-arm totes.

“These are essential for the Foodbank! If you know of a company or organisation in Northern Ireland who sells these, can you please private message me? (Specifically 600 x 400 x 253 mm maxinest bail-arm totes).”
