First ever Irish show for deaf and hearing audience

THE first ever Irish theatre show for a joint deaf and hearing audience will take place in The Playhouse on Thursday, February 28.

‘Follow’ uses sign language as an integrated part of the action of the play.

“We’re especially delighted to welcome Will Fredd here on the same week that RNIB and Action on Hearing Loss will perform a collection of originally devised drama pieces which will be simultaneously audio captioned and audio described.

“This work is a culmination of training through The Playhouse’s Education Department in conjunction adults with vision and hearing impairments,” said Elaine Forde of ICAN. Winner of the Spirit of the Fringe Award at Dublin Fringe Festival 2011, ‘Follow’ is the first piece of theatre in Ireland created for both a Deaf and Hearing audience.
