Tyrone Mother and child injured in one of Friday's six serious snow crashes

Two of the crashes took place on Tyrone’s roads, one in Ballygawley and the other in Fintona.

And two men in their 30s had to be helped from their vehicles following a 4.56am collision on the Omagh Road, Ballygawley.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at 4.56am to a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision at the Omagh Road area of Ballygawley on Friday 15 January.

“Two Fire Appliances from Clogher Fire Station and one Fire Appliance from Omagh Fire Station were deployed to the scene. Firefighters using manual handling equipment released two men aged in their 30s from two cars involved in the incident.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 05.29am.”

A woman in her 20s, and her child, also had be aided by firefighters following a collision on the Lisnarable Road, Eskragh later on the same morning.

“One Fire Appliance from Omagh Fire Station and one Fire Appliance from Fintona Fire Station were deployed to the scene. Firefighters using manual handling equipment released a woman in her 20s and a child from a car in the area,” said a Fire Service spokesperson.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 10.24am.”

The other incidents took place in Comber, Rathfriland and two at Glengormley.
