Two cut from car by firefighters after crash outside Magherafelt primary school

It is understood the two car collision, which took place near Spires Integrated Primary school on the Moneymore Road, left three females and one male injured.

A 19, 20 and 22-year-old, who were all in the same car, were taken to hospital by ambulance, whilst one person in the other vehicle suffered a knee injury in the Saturday morning crash [September 19].

The Fire Service said in an incident report: “Local crews attended a road traffic collision involving two cars in the early hours of Saturday morning near Spires Integrated Primary school on the Moneymore Road outside Magherafelt.

“Two people were heavily trapped and cutting gear was used to release the casualties from their vehicles.

“Three persons in one car (aged 19, 20 and 22) were all taken to hospital by ambulance while the [female] occupant of a second car suffered a knee injury.”

A NIFRS spokesperson added: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service received a call at 3.17am to a report of a 2 vehicle road traffic collision at the Moneymore Road area of Magherafelt on Saturday 19th September.

“Two Fire Appliances from Magherafelt Fire Station were deployed to the scene. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 4am.”
