Cllr Gordon Lyons, who succeeded Mrs Rea in the Coast Road constituency, added: “She worked hard for all of her constituents, regardless of their background or religion and as a result she won the respect of people from right across the community.”

Coast Road TUV Councillor Ruth Wilson added: “I would like to pay tribute to Rachel Rea, one of the first women in local politics with 35 years respected and distinguished service to our local community”.
