Air Ambulance tasked to ‘serious collision’ in Ballycarry

The Air Ambulance was tasked to a road traffic collision in Ballycarry this afternoon alongside two emergency crews and two rapid response paramedics.

The incident in the Hillhead Road area was reported to the emergency services shortly after 1.30pm.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 1.35pm on Friday, February 26 following reports of a road traffic collision at Loughanlea Lane, Ballycarry.

“NIAS despatched two Emergency crews and two Rapid Response Paramedic to the scene. The charity Air Ambulance with HEMs crew on board was also tasked to the incident.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no one was taken to hospital.”

Police have said it is expected the road will be closed for some time.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Motorists are advised that the Hillhead Road in Ballycarry is closed due to a serious road traffic collision.

Diversions are in place at the junction of Main Street and Island Road; and at the Ballypollard Road junction with Bankhall Road.

“The road is expected to be closed for some time and motorists should seek alternative routes.”
