Kilrea Primary School kitchen came out top overall thanks to an excellent submission cataloguing in great detail all the wonderful activities in which the kitchen have been involved.

Not only have Mrs Margaret Gordon and Mrs Zandra Greer, the two cooks, taken part in school events, they have instigated many of them themselves.

Events have included a Big Breakfast for parents and the local community, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and special picnics to celebrate the Jubilee and Royal Wedding.

They also enter into the spirit of every special occasion by dressing up and choosing appropriate menus.

The pupils at the school benefit greatly from the joint working approach of the school and the kitchen and this is the main reason for their success.

“We wish the two hardworking ladies all the best for the NI finals which will be held in the Titanic Building in October 2012”, says principal Karen Stinson.
